I am in bed, convalescent of a small surgery, and after receiving the news that our dearest sister, Dolores Delgado, Poor Clare Missionary Sister, has been called to the house of the Father in Santa Ana, California, Remembering my passing through that beautiful region, flourishing in Vanclarists and other people who collaborate with our sisters, I had the idea of writing a little reflection for our brothers and sisters of our Inesian Family in U.S.A. and the other English speaking countries on this day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
On the day of our Baptism, we received the light of Christ and were instructed to keep that torch burning brightly until the return of Jesus Christ. Besides, the Holy Spirit was sent into our hearts at Confirmation to help set us on fire. The old proverb should be applicable to all baptized and confirmed Christians: «He /She who is on fire cannot sit on a chair». Our Lord Jesus continues to cast fire on the earth, the fire of his Sacred Heart, through the ministry of Word and sacraments. As Christians, we should have fire to inflame people to care, to serve, to be supportive, and to bless each other with all the gifts of faith.
Where is our fire? Is our fire, the fire of the Sacred Heart of Christ? We need divine fire to inflame our hearts with the love of Jesus and love for His brethren. We Christians should blaze with the same fire with which Jesus wished his disciples to burn: “I came to cast fire upon earth”… upon each one of us.
Brothers and sisters, yesterday we celebrated the memory of blessed Mother Maria Ines Teresa Arias, a woman that always lived with fire in her heart, the same fire of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She constantly repeated during her life in this world this phrase: "Jesus meek and humble of heart, make my heart like yours. Blessed Maria Ines was a Mexican woman that founded a Missionary Family that evangelizes around the entire world with the fire of Christ. Her foundation has presence in fourteen countries around the world. Her official picture always shows a woman consecrated to God, who lived joyfully, inflaming with the missionary zeal, to all who came to her.
Around the world, we know that many people wait for home, bread, milk, medicine. Many people in different parts of the world live without electricity and drinking water, but specially, we know that many, many people, live without the fire of Christ in their hearts. Some of this people know who is the Lord, and bow and begged him to listen to their cries, but many others do not know who God is, they do not know Him and cannot love Him. They have not experienced the love of the heart of Christ and they need our fire, that is the same fire of Christ… Remember this paragraph of the Holy Scripture: «I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me» (Gal 2:20).
In this day of the Sacerd Heart, Jesus himself comes inside us and ignites us with the fire of his heart, because he wants that we are moving swift like his Mother Mary Immaculate who always saw the needs of others. God bless all brothers and sisters of the Inesian Family, that specially live the charism of Mother Maria Ines. Please, keep being the fire that makes everyone know and love Jesus. «Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you!»
